Psalm 130

Martyrdom

Out of the depths I cry to you,
O Lord; Lord, hear my plea.
O let your ears be open to
My cry for your mercy.

If you, Lord, kept a note of sin,
Then, Lord, who could endure?
But with you sins can be forgiv'n,
Therefore, we owe you fear.

I wait for God, my soul will wait,
My hope is in his word.
More than for morning watchmen wait,
My soul waits for the Lord.

More than watchmen wait for the morn,
My soul waits for the Lord.
Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
For mercy he’ll afford.

With God there is redemption full,
He will himself redeem,
Redeem his people Israel,
From all their sins redeem.

Psalm 133

CM

How good, how pleasant is the sight,
How wonderful to see,
When brothers make it their delight
To live in unity.

It’s like the precious oil that poured
Out on to Aaron’s head,
That running down onto his beard,
Upon his collar spread.

It is as if Mount Hermon’s dew
On Zion were to pour.
That’s where the Lord sends blessing to,
Ev'n life for evermore.

Psalm 138

Melcombe

With all my heart I’ll praise you Lord;
Before the ‘gods’ I’ll sing and bless,
Your holy temple bow toward,
I’ll praise for love and faithfulness.

Your name and word you’ve made to be
Much greater far than everything.
When I cried out, you answered me;
You made me bold and strong within.

May all the kings of earth give praise,
Lord, when they hear you speak your word
And may they sing the Lord’s own ways:
For great the glory of the Lord.

Though God’s on high, the meek he knows
But views the proud from far away.
Although I walk amid such woes,
You guard my life, preserve my way.

Against my foes you stretch your hand,
By your right hand you me relieve.
God’s plans won’t fail; your love will stand,
Your hands’ own work, Lord, never leave.

Psalm 146

CM

Praise God. Praise God, my soul, O praise,
I’ll praise God all my days.
Throughout my life I’ll sing his praise,
I'll sing his praise always.

In princes do not put your trust,
In men who'll save you not.
When they expire, they turn to dust,
Their every plan will rot.

If Jacob's God's your help, how blessed,
Your hope's in God, your God.
He made the earth, sky, sea, the rest,
He's faithful to the end.

He justly deals with those oppressed,
Feeds hungering ones, he's kind.
The Lord the prisoner has released,
The Lord he heals the blind.

The Lord exalts those who bow low,
The Lord loves righteous men,
Sustains the orphan and widow,
Protects the alien.

But as for wicked men, their ways
He will frustrate and thwart.
God reigns forever, endless days,
O Zion. Praise the Lord.

Skeleton staff

I had to go downstairs for an X-ray
The day was a Monday bank holiday
Well, I had to laugh -
They only had a skeleton staff.

Psalm 148

Supremacy

Praise to the Lord. Praise God from heav’n,
Praise him above so far.
Praise him all angels, hosts of heav’n.
Praise him sun, moon and star.
Praise him O highest heavens, give praise,
Praise him you streams above the skies.

Let them the name of God give praise.
He spoke and they were made.
For evermore he set their place,
His Word must be obeyed.
His sure decree can’t pass away
So they must praise his name each day.

Praise give to God throughout the earth,
All creatures of the seas;
Lightning, hail, snow; clouds, winds that serve;
Hills, mountains; cedars, trees;
Beasts of the wild beneath the sky,
Small creatures, cattle, birds that fly.

Kings of the earth, their people too,
Princes and heads on earth,
Young men and maidens, old men too,
And children from their birth,
Praise God’s great name, the name so high;
His splendour is above the sky.

He for his people’s raised a horn,
Of all his saints the praise.
Of Isra’l, those whom he has borne,
Close to his heart always.
So give all praise to God again
Praise to the Lord, praise God, Amen.

Psalm 149

Hanover

Sing praise to the Lord, sing God a new song,
His praise in the midst of the holy throng.
Let Israel rejoice in their Maker and sing;
Let all Zion’s people be glad in their King.

Let them with the dance give praise to his name.
With timbrel and harp make music to him,
For God in his people his pleasure will take,
With crowns of salvation adorning the meek.

Let saints now rejoice in honour restored,
Let them on their beds sing praise in accord.
May praises to God from their mouths be outpoured
And there in their hands, a double-edged sword.

Let them inflict wrath on all heathen lands.
With fetters bind kings, their nobles ir’n bands;
The sentence that’s written against them fulfil.
This is the saints’ glory. O praise the LORD still!

Psalm 150

CMD

O hallelujah, praise the Lord,
His sanctuary within.
O hallelujah, praise the Lord,
High in his mighty heaven.
Praise him for great and mighty acts,
All wrought by his own power.
Praise him for greatness unsurpassed
Up to this very hour.

Praise him with trumpet sounding out,
Praise him with harp and lute.
Praise him with timbrel, dance about,
Praise him with strings and flute.
Praise him with clash of cymbals loud,
With cymbals that resound,
Let everything with breath praise God,
O come let’s praise the Lord!
