Covenant

Made a cov'nant with my eyes
To look into the skies
When pretty girls go by
I've learned to love the sky.

To be Frank

I was a thousand miles from Wales,
So I could not attend,
As would a family member, friend,
The fun'rals for Frank and Frank.

Frank I'd known for all my life
And Frank about two score.
The one has gone to heaven above,
The other, I'm not sure.

They both were sinners, it is clear,
Though one had been to pris'n.
One only liked too much his beer,
The other had done worse.

It is the one who did what's worse,
The one who went to prison
Who I'm convinced is now in heav'n,
Although that seems perverse.

My mother's brother did not turn
And trust in Christ, it seems,
But brother Frank had come to learn
That faith in Christ redeems.

The donkeys of Grahamstown, South Africa

You hear them at night
Though they are not in sight.
The donkeys of Grahamstown,
Let's award them a crown.

You see them by day,
Are they hunting for hay?
The donkeys of Grahamstown,
Let's award them a crown.

You see them by day,
Two pulling a dray.
The donkeys of Grahamstown,
Let's award them a crown.

Rememb'ring hot sand
Childhood rides on the strand.
The donkeys of Grahamstown,
Let's award them a crown.

I think of my Lord,
The Saviour of the world.
Born there in Bethlehem town,
Strips of cloth for a gown.

I think of my Lord,
The Saviour of the world.
Who rode into the town,
Rows of thorns formed his crown.
