The Fantasist 4
While kissing Karissa
He was dreaming of Dreena
This blog chiefly contains metrical versions of the psalms based on the NIV text but also poems I have written down the years
While kissing Karissa
He was dreaming of Dreena

The Fantasist

I touch the dirt between the cracks
That beats the constant scrub.
Dust settles on the cleanest wax,
Despite the ragged rub.
Grease gets under my fingernails,
Filth fills my open pores;
The grime of all these wasted years,
Washed scarce by salty tears.
And when I think beneath the skin,
Pierce the hard heart within,
I know the muck's not paper thin;
I lose, I never win.
So what can clean? How will I wash
The grained in grime of sin?
My only hope, my saving plea
Is Jesus' blood of God.

Questions 68 - 71
CM
What's a cov'nant? An agreement
Made by two or by more.
By cov'nant of grace what is meant?
It's one made long before.
It's an eternal agreement
Within the Trinity
To save certain persons, elect,
Now and eternally.
To do what did Christ undertake
In the cov'nant of grace?
All the law to keep for men's sake
And suffer in their place.
Did Christ ever sin to his shame?
No, as man and as child,
Our Lord was holy, without blame,
He remained undefiled.

It's getting late
I'm fifty eight
So soon will come the day
Death's on the way
Don't hesitate
Work hard and always pray.

From the verandah he had a gander at Amanda,
As he sat in the flat with Cat.

A voice I hear, a voice I know,
It speaks the words I love,
"Praise him from whom all blessings flow"
Let's praise the One above.

The loneliest day
LM
I cried to the Lord from the deep
O Lord, hear my voice as I weep.
My Lord, listen closely to me
I cry to you, Lord, set me free.
If the Lord kept a record of sin
Then who could stand up before him?
Through Christ there is forgiveness,
Therefore holy fear shall be his.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
My hope is in all his Word states.
My heart keeps waiting for the Lord
Like a watchman who waits for the dawn.
Hope now in the Lord, be humble,
The God of love will not stumble.
Through him the full price has been paid,
On Christ all our sins have been laid.
(Based on Psalm 130)
